A lighthouse in the sea of wheat fields in Zola’s Beauce region! The last stone windmill in Eure-et-Loir is still in working order! You can see it from 8km away, with its rotating roofing which functions using a 14-metre long tail and a wingspan of 21 metres.
The origins of Frouville (or Molendinus de Frouvilla) appear in the chartulary of Notre Dame de Josaphat in 1214. There was a post mill here until 1762 and it burned down in 1822. Reconstructed in stone in 1826 by Crignon d’Ouzouer, Member of Parliament for the Loiret, it stopped its activity in 1914. Neglected until 1982 and then restored by an association, it has been restored to its youth and its initial purpose: milling corn. Listed on the additional register of historic monuments, an FNASSEM award-winner and also a masterpiece at risk, it is an original site on the Beauce windmills circuit. It won the Tourism medal in 2006.
